This release fixes a startup issue introduced in 1.2.0 where the loading screen shown at startup could stay on screen instead of disappearing once MelodyMatrix was ready.

Bug fixes

• Fixed the app’s loading screen not disappearing after startup on some systems — on macOS it could stay on top of the app, and on Linux it could linger behind the main window. The loading screen has been removed.
• Fixed a rare case where the app could briefly freeze at startup while checking your license status in the background.

This release lays the groundwork behind the scenes for an upcoming new “Learn” section, alongside playback improvements and initial MusicXML support.

Getting ready for more Learn content

• Lesson series can now be configured more flexibly, so future lessons can automatically open the right viewer and sound settings for that lesson instead of a single fixed setup.
• Improved how the app checks your license in the background, paving the way for premium lesson content to be securely unlocked without extra steps.
• Learn content will load in your app’s language going forward, with a safe fallback to English when a translation isn’t available yet.
• Behind-the-scenes changes so upcoming premium lessons can be shown in the catalog (rather than hidden) even before you unlock them, so you can see what’s available.

Playback improvements

• Only one recording plays at a time now, avoiding overlapping audio when switching between lessons or recordings.
• Added a countdown timer while a recording is playing.
• Added a playback speed control, so you can slow down or speed up recordings.
• Fixed an issue where fast, back-to-back notes could get dropped during playback.

Other changes

• Initial support for loading MusicXML files, including a fix for complex files getting stuck while loading.
• Started integrating sheet-music rendering for a future notation view.
• New splash screen.
• Added particle effects to the piano view.
